Abiotic Synthetic Antibody Inhibitor with Broad-Spectrum Neutralization and Antiviral Efficacy against Escapina SARS-CoV-2Variants
The development of effective broad-spectrum neutralizing agents for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV-2) vaccine/antibody escape mutants is essential for the prevention and treatment of this disease. Herein, we report a non-biosynthetic antibody inhibitor (Aphe-NP14) as a potential anti-SARS CoV-2 therapeutic agent.Aphe-NP14 leads to a strong blockade of the spike-in glycoprotein receptor binding domain (RBD)-human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) interaction, resulting in a neutralizing effect on escaped spike-in variant pseudotypic virus infections. The present study demonstrates the potential application of non-biosynthetic antibody inhibitors in the prevention and treatment of emerging or future SARS-CoV-2 variant rest infections.
